The Adventures of Terrik Zion – Issue 04: Page 11
Hello again! This week has been crazy, but good. I finished recoloring two more pages of Issue 1 and then I did a deep dive into my Google docs and started organizing all my Terrik Zion files. Basically I took all the random story ideas/elements and organized them into a proper timeline and broke them into what should end up being individual issues. As it stands, I have another 16 issues (at least, for the Omegan War story arc). There’s plenty more that can be had before or after that. Or heck, even in between! And speaking of inbetween stories, I actually also filtered some of the story ideas I had that were too short for a full issue into a section of Vignettes. These can be little 6 or 7 page short comics told in between the main TATZ storyline. Yesterday I started hammering out my issue 6 plotline and rough script, and today I decided to try something a little different. Since I always seem to tweak my scripts a bit as I go along anyway, I thought about saving the time of writing a fully formed script and instead keeping it loose dialogue and instead focused on the panel layouts. So I did a full set of panel layouts in very small thumbnail format to figure out my pacing and everything, then once I was happy with those, I created to nice ruler-lined third scale thumbnail templates I usually use. I have 205 panels in issue 6, which is something like 25 more than any other book, but it comes in at 27 pages so they are DENSE pages! I’m going to do some test lettering on the thumbnails before I get too deep into work just to make sure I’m not underestimating my space again (and I usually do). On a side note, I discovered that our PS4 controller died and so I haven’t been able to watch my new Star Trek TNG BluRays. Curses! But I have a replacement on the way so I’ll start watching those soon. Anyway I think that’s about all I’ve got for this week so I’ll see y’all later!
